Epaminondas, a Little African Boy.

Having done a favor for his godmother in the neighboring African village, Epaminondas brings back a coconut cake for his mother. "Don't put it in in your sack, hold it in your hand," his godmother advises him. Even though he follows her advice to the letter, the cake arrives in pieces ! Epaminondas," laments his mother, "what did you do with your good sense? A cake should be wrapped and carried under your hat." He gives in and learns a lesson, but the next day, it's some butter that he has to bring back ...

Epaminondas.

Ayant rendu service à sa marraine du village africain voisin, Epaminondas rapporte à sa mère un gâteau à la noix de coco bien mérité. " Ne le mets pas dans ton sac, tiens-le plutôt bien serré dans ta main " lui conseille sa marraine. Et Epaminondas essaie d'appliquer à la lettre cette recommandation ; mais le gâteau arrive en miettes ! " Epaminondas ", se lamente sa mère, qu'as-tu fait de ton bon sens ? Un gâteau se porte, bien enveloppé, sous ton chapeau ". Epaminondas acquiesce et retient bien la leçon. Mais le lendemain, c'est un morceau de beurre qu'il lui faut rapporter...
